Privacy Policy for NoQR

Effective date: August 31, 2026

NoQR is designed to work on your device. It reads nearby Wi-Fi names and lets you save named UPI QR codes locally. It can use the camera only when you choose the scan icon while adding or updating a Saved QR code. NoQR does not operate a server or collect, sell, or share this information through its own services. The Google ML Kit scanning SDK may send limited diagnostics and usage metrics to Google, as explained below.

How NoQR works

NoQR accesses nearby Wi-Fi network information only while you use the app to provide its core functionality. It can scan a QR code only to fill the UPI ID field while you add or update a Saved QR code, and it can create a QR code for a UPI ID you enter. NoQR does not process transactions, access your bank account, or access your UPI PIN.

Documentation examples

Any UPI IDs, QR codes, names, or recipient details shown in NoQR documentation, screenshots, or images are for demonstration only. Do not use them to make a transaction.

QR scanning and camera access

When NoQR first opens after installation, it may ask you to allow camera permission so the scan option in My UPI IDs is ready when you choose it. Camera permission is required only for that optional QR-scanning action. If you allow it, NoQR uses the camera only to scan the QR code in front of you. Scanning happens on your device. NoQR does not save, upload, or share camera images or video. It uses only a supported UPI-formatted ID from the QR result.

Google ML Kit

NoQR uses Google ML Kit's on-device barcode-scanning SDK to read QR codes. QR images and decoded QR contents are processed on your device and are not sent to Google by ML Kit.

Google states that ML Kit may send limited device and app information, per-installation identifiers, performance and API-configuration metrics, feature events, and error codes to Google for diagnostics and usage analytics. NoQR does not control this SDK processing. See Google's ML Kit data-disclosure information and ML Kit Terms and Privacy.

Information we access

NoQR requests permission to access nearby Wi-Fi information. Android presents this as a location-related permission because Android requires it for Wi-Fi scanning.

NoQR uses this access only while you use the app to read nearby Wi-Fi names. It does not use the information to determine, track, or store your physical location.

NoQR may request camera permission when it first opens after installation so the scan option in My UPI IDs is ready when you choose it. You may deny or revoke this permission in Android Settings; nearby Wi-Fi discovery and manually entering UPI IDs in My UPI IDs will continue to work.

Nearby Wi-Fi names and UPI IDs

A nearby Wi-Fi name may contain a UPI ID or other text chosen by the Wi-Fi network owner. NoQR reads this information only on your device and may display matching UPI IDs so you can select one.

NoQR does not upload, retain, verify, or share nearby Wi-Fi names or UPI IDs. It does not confirm who owns a Wi-Fi network, business, or UPI ID. Before making a transaction, ensure that the bank-registered recipient name shown in your UPI app matches the intended person or business.

Saved QR codes

If you choose to save a QR code, its name and UPI ID are stored locally on your device so you can display, update, delete, or share it later. This information is not uploaded to our servers or shared with us.

If Android Backup is enabled on your device, Android may include Saved QR codes in its cloud-backup and device-transfer processes so they can be restored on another device. NoQR does not operate, access, or receive this backup data; it is handled by Android under your device and Google Account settings.

When you choose Share QR code or Share UPI ID, NoQR creates an image in its private app cache containing the QR code, its UPI ID, and a verification reminder for Android’s share sheet. The share sheet also includes the UPI ID as text. The image is not automatically saved to your gallery. It may remain in the app cache until Android clears it, you clear the app cache, or you uninstall the app. The app you choose to share with receives the image and text under its own privacy policy.

You are responsible for the information you enter. Before saving, updating, displaying, or sharing a QR code, you must ensure that its UPI ID, name, and other details are accurate, current, and authorised. NoQR does not verify the information in a QR code or confirm who owns a UPI ID.

Information NoQR does not collect through its own services

NoQR does not collect or store on its own servers:

Data sharing

NoQR does not send information to our servers and does not include advertising SDKs. Google ML Kit diagnostics and usage metrics are handled as described above.

If you choose Open UPI app, NoQR copies the selected UPI ID and opens an installed UPI app normally. The UPI app is a separate service with its own privacy policy and terms. NoQR does not send it a payment link, amount, or transaction details, and does not control how it handles information.

Data retention and deletion

NoQR does not retain personal data on our servers or create user accounts. You can delete Saved QR codes from the app. You can also clear NoQR’s app data or cache from Android Settings. Uninstalling the app removes its local app data, subject to your device’s normal system behaviour. Any Android backup is managed through your device and Google Account backup settings.

Children's privacy

NoQR is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if NoQR's data practices change. Any update will be posted on this page with a new effective date.

Terms and Conditions

Use of NoQR is also subject to the NoQR Terms and Conditions.
